Singapore News: Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo has met Secretary of the Libyan General People's Committee for Foreign Liaison and International Cooperation, Abdelrahman Mohamed Shalgham on the sidelines of the 62nd United Nations General Assembly.
A Singapore Foreign Ministry statement said the Foreign Ministers discussed possible bilateral economic cooperation and expressed keenness to build on the momentum of earlier visits by Minister Yeo to Libya in May this year and Secretary, National Planning Council Dr Mahmoud Gebril's visit to Singapore last month. Minister Yeo invited Minister Shalgham to visit Singapore with a Libyan business delegation to foster deeper ties between government officials and the private sector. Mr Yeo also held a series of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the 62nd United Nations General Assembly on 1st October 2007. He met Foreign Minister of Maldives, Abdullah Shahid, Foreign Minister of Hungary, Kinga Goncz, Foreign Minister of Senegal, Cheikh Tidane Gadio, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, Enkhbold Nyamaa and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Vladimir Imamovich Norov. - CNA/ch |
