Alshic Bunkers, a division of Alshic Holding SA, has announced that bunker barges are back in operation in the three main ports of Libya.
It said this makes it possible for the company to offer supply around the clock within the ports or at their anchorage areas. Nearby secondary ports can also be supplied subject to enquiry, the company said.
The three ports serviced by barges ranging from 2,950 to 3,000 metric tonne (mt) capacity are Misurata, Benghazi and Tripoli. The Tripoli barge will be operational as of March 29, while the others are already in service, Alshic indicated.
In addition to the barge deliveries, Alshic said suppliers of intermediate fuel oil (IFO) and marine gas oil (MGO) can be offered ex-pipe on a 'bunkers only' basis for vessels calling at the Marsa-el-Hariga oil terminal, which is adjacent to the port of Tobruk.
Alshic Holdings also controls the Alshic Shipping Network, which offers ship agency services throughout the Middle East and North Africa.
