Tripoli – The executive director of the Libyan leader's office and general manager of the Libyan Fund for Investment in Africa, Bachir Saleh has disclosed that Libya plans to build hotels and conference centres in the Senegalese capital.
Saleh made the disclosure to journalists in Dakar after he delivered a special message from Col. Moammar Qadhafi to President Abdoulaye Wade.
"We are going invest in Senegal in the construction of hotels and conference centres," he said.
Saleh said these projects were meant to contribute to efforts made by the Senegalese government in fostering national development.
The Libyan Fund for Investment in Africa, with a budget of $5bn "is for Africa", said Saleh.
In a recent interview with a Libyan television, Wade had indicated that in spite of the strong ties between leaders of both countries, Libyan investments were lacking in Senegal.
The Libyan Fund's general manager, who just had "a discussion with president Wade on several major construction projects affirmed that his institution is planning to establish in Senegal" to redress the situation.
