Secretary of the GPC for Foreign Liaison and International Cooperation has met in Italy with the deputy Prime Minister, foreign Minister of Italy, Massimo D`Alema.
The meeting which was attended by Secretary of the Libyan People’s bureau to Italy reviewed the Italian-Libyan joint Declaration signed in 1998 in which Italy had officially apologized to the Libyan People for the Italian colonialism period in Libya, and reviewed the Great Initiative that the Italian Government announced providing for compensating the Libyan People for that period.
D`Alema renewed the commitment of his country to execute the unimplemented articles of the Italian-Libyan joint Declaration and the mentioned Initiative.
He also reaffirmed that the Italian Government considers the Italian Libyan relations at the top of the Italian Foreign relations, and he said that the Libyan Italian relations are strategic ones, that Italy interested to develop and support, and which serve the interests of the two friendly peoples.
In another meeting, The Secretary of of Foreign Liaison and International Cooperation met with the Italian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Culture, Francesco Ruttelli in Rome.
The meeting discussed the means to develop bilateral relations in the cultural and tourism fields and in antiques field, where they agreed to create a joint committee to prepare a cooperation project in these fields.
Ruttelli affirmed the readiness of his country to organize training and technical courses for the Libyan technicians and engineers in the cultural, tourism and antique fields, and holding restoration operations for some antiques sites in the Libya.
