Tripoli, Libya 09/21 - The Libya-Korea mixed cooperation commission opened its fourth ordinary session here Wednesday with the secretary of the Libyan People`s General Committee for communications and transport, Ali Zikri, co-chaired with the Korean minister of transport and construction, Choo Byung Jik.
Zikri emphasised the importance of the session in the promotion of cooperation between Libya and South Korea, through the promotion of joint investments, transfer of technology, increase in trade and training, human resources development, tourism, health and energy.
He indicated that Libya implemented development projects in basic infrastructure, particularly roads, bridges, water and sanitation, adding that opportunities were still open for the Korean party, which can this way improve its contribution in terms of investments.
Choo Byung Jik reaffirmed the wish and desire of the investors from his country to contribute to the implementation of development projects, adding that the development of the great artificial river in Libya was an example of cooperation between the two countries.
Choo renewed the Korean government`s will to promote cooperation with Libya and the Korean companies` readiness to participate in the development of basic infrastructural projects, and in the areas of water, nuclear medicine, health, electric power generation, industry and agriculture.
The meeting decided to set up two bodies, notably an economic, investment and tourism commission, and a construction, energy, training, transport, oil and electricity commission, to examine the means to develop and strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
South Korean Prime Minister, Han Myeong Sook, who arrived in Tripoli, Tuesday for an official visit to Libya, is accompanied by the minister of construction and transport, Choo Byung Jik, as well as vice-ministers of foreign affairs, industry, information and communications, and several economic operators.
The secretary of the Libyan People`s General Committee (prime minister), Dr Baghdadi Mahmoudi, hosted a dinner Tuesday night for the Korean prime minister and her delegation.
