Libya celebrates the 37th anniversary of the Al-Fateh Revolution today. Viet Nam News asked Tripoli’s Charge d’Affaires in Ha Noi, Mohamed Ahmed Khalifa Dalla, to clarify its importance.

How will the Al-Fateh Revolution be celebrated this year?

The stability and security brought by the Great Al-Fateh Revolution is far different to what the world sees elsewhere in the struggle for power.

All Libyan citizens exercise authority through their People’s Congresses, which make the decisions, and the People’s Committees, which implement them. Decisions about international and domestic affairs and matters that affect the lives of the people cannot be made by anyone else. We say: "There is no democracy without People’s Congresses and People’s Committees everywhere."

What has the revolution achieved?

The revolution has restored freedom and equality for Libyans. There is no master and no servant. We are equals. It’s the people who own and protect the natural resources and defend the country

The great man-made river is complete and delivers clean water throughout the country. All our farms have water for cultivation and their production has quickly increased. The progress in agriculture, industry and construction is thanks to Allah. Tourism attracts many international visitors.

How do you explain the partnership between Libya and Viet Nam and do your anticipate the extension of cultural and commercial ties?

The people of Viet Nam and Libya fought colonialism together. Now we work together to eliminate barriers to socio-economic development.

The Viet Nam – Libya Joint Commission will soon hold its 10th meeting. The Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry will also meet with Libya’s Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture. Their purpose will be to enhance trade between our two countries.

They will sponsor delegations and organise trade and industrial fairs to introduce products and identify investment opportunities. Our two countries will also undertake major economic projects common to both.

Co-operation between Libya and Viet Nam in trade, economy, culture and science is undergoing constant development. But we should do more to have the co-operation match our sound political relations.

Where are Vietnamese workers likely to find employment in Libya?

Vietnamese workers are skilful and are always welcome in Libya. Their most suitable employment will be discussed at a meeting between Viet Nam and Libya in the near future.

But the participation of Vietnamese workers has contributed to the completion of many projects and our companies want to co-operate with Viet Nam to ensure more long-term employment. The potential for such co-operation is very high and we want it to be efficient.

Libya has great economic potential and is now in the process of development.

There will be more projects that will require hundreds, perhaps thousands, of technical workers. Vietnamese will be in the first rank because they are so diligent.

The Arab Libyan People’s Bureau in Ha Noi and Viet Nam’s Embassy in Tripoli will make great efforts to boost our bilateral ties. There will be visits and meetings between the two countries in the coming months. Many agreements will be signed.

Finally, my warmest congratulations to the leaders and the people of Viet Nam as they celebrate their 61st National Day. I wish them even more achievements and prosperity. — VNS
